John Beake

ELITE Football Services is proud to introduce former Denver Broncos GM and retired NFL Vice President, John as ELITE’s new Director of NFL Relations and Faculty Advisor to the Wilson-ELITE Football Scouting Clinic.

John will be working closely with NFL team personnel to assist them in their access to ELITE players and attendance at the ELITE National Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. In addition, John will oversee faculty recruiting and course content for the Wilson-ELITE Football Scouting Clinic.

John started his football career as a star player on the Long Branch, NJ 1957 championship team.

Since his high school playing days, John worked hard to build an amazingly successful football-related career that has brought him highly prestigious positions within the National Football League.

After receiving his master's degree from Penn State University in 1962, John coached for six years at the high school level, where his teams lost just four games and won two championships at Nyack High School, New York.

In 1968 John became an assistant coach for the Kansas City Chiefs where he coached the offensive backfield until 1974. During his tenure in Kansas City, he was part of the Hank Stram-led Super Bowl IV team that defeated the Minnesota Vikings. In 1975, he became the offensive coordinator at Colorado State University. Then in 1976, he joined the New Orleans Saints as their running backs coach.

John joined the Denver Broncos in 1979, where he was named director of Pro Personnel and became director of Player Personnel in 1981, successfully moving from the playing field to the front office.

Serving as assistant general manager in 1984, after one year as the Broncos’ Director of Football Operations, John continued his rapid ascension through the organization. John became the Broncos’ vice president of administration in 1999, after spending the previous 14 years as the team’s GM. His tenure as Broncos GM included the signing of John Elway and two more Super Bowls, bringing his career Super Bowl total to three.

After 23 seasons with the Broncos, John was appointed NFL Senior Vice President of Player Development and Football Operations.

While with the NFL League Office John served as chairman of the NFL International Working Group, which was primarily comprised of NFL general managers and player personnel directors. John also served as a member of the NFL College Relations Committee.

In 32 years within professional football, John’s career as an administrator is highlighted by great degrees of versatility and success. John’s clubs posted 350 wins on the professional, collegiate, and high school levels, a total unmatched by any other current or former NFL executive.

Along with all his football-related success, John is a pillar within the football community, and one of the most respected men in the NFL.
