In 1999 Marc was a senior WR at Hastings College, a tiny NAIA school in Nebraska. He had a productive college career (93 rec., 1092 yds, 30 TDs) and tremendous physical tools, but needed someone to notice.
On March 11, 2000 Marc attended an ELITE Regional Combine in Chicago and recorded the 3rd highest combine score of the year. His rare size and speed were impossible to ignore.
The Calgary Stampeders requested Marc's ELITE Combine video footage soon after seeing his results and signed him on May 12, 2000. He became an immediate impact player with 63 receptions for 1,092 yards and 9 TDs his rookie season. His two-year totals (111 rec., 19 TD's) proved he was more than just a small school star and the NFL became interested.
Marc made the jump from the CFL Calgary Stampeders to the NFL by signing a seven-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs in February 2002. The contract included a $175,000 signing bonus, the largest ever given to a CFL player.
Marc became one of the NFL's biggest playmakers in 2002 by scoring 8 TD's on only 20 receptions. He averaged 21 yard per catch, including an NFL record tying 99 yard TD in a December 22nd game against the Chargers.
In 2003 Marc appeared in 15 games at WR and on special teams, totaling 11 catches for 158 yards (14.4 avg.) and one kickoff return for 44 yards.
Due to the tremendous interest in his talents, Marc conducted a private workout for NFL teams on January 16, 2002 in Salt Lake City. Twenty-four NFL teams attended. He eventually narrowed his choices to Kansas City, Denver and Indianapolis before signing with the Chiefs.
