After attending an ELITE Regional Combine in April of 2000, Ahmad was originally signed by the now-defunct XFL. The Bears signed him in 2001 and allocated to the Berlin in NFL Europe. He played well in Europe and his team won the World Bowl Championship. He made the Bears roster upon his return and had two receptions during the 2001 regular season prior to his playoff heroics.
In 2002, Ahmad recorded the fourth-highest single-season kickoff return yardage total in Bears history with 1,029 yards on 45 returns (22.9 avg.). He also added 14 receptions for 100 yards, 10 punt returns for 71 yards and collected eight special teams tackles.
Ahmad’s first NFL touchdown occurred in January 2002 when he scored on a 47-yard end around in the 2nd quarter of the Bears 33-19 loss to the Eagles in the playoffs.
