Knorr’s NFL success was not a direct route. After a successful college career at Utah State, Knorr was out of football completely from 1997-1999 as he pursued a career away from the field. Then, in 1999, he decided to give the NFL a shot. After training and attending an ELITE Regional Combine in February of 2000 he was able to impress the Cowboys enough to sign him to a free-agent contract on April 20, 2000. He won a battle in training camp and became the Cowboys punter.
In Micah’s rookie season in 2000 he burst onto the NFL scene, finishing fourth in the NFC and 11th in the NFL with a Dallas Cowboy rookie record 42.8 yard gross punting average. He followed that up in 2001 with a 40.2 yard average on 78 punts.
He played the first 7 games with Dallas Cowboys in 2002, averaging 39.9 yards per punt, before being released in October. He immediately signed with the Broncos and averaged 37.8 yards per punt in the final 8 games of the season.
Micah enters his 5th NFL season and 2nd full season with the Denver Broncos in 2004. Last season, Micah posted a 43.2 average and 32.2 net punting average with a long of 62 and 14 punts inside the 20-yard line. He has proven to be one of the NFL's top kickers in terms of hang time, directional ability and net average.
