Career On the Rise

Hopkins, 9 Others Earn AFL Awards

August 16, 2002 - Los Angeles Avengers WR/LB Greg Hopkins (SC ''96) led a group of 10 SCOUT CAMP players who received 2002 league honors for an outstanding seasons.

Hopkins won the AFL Ironman of the Year award as the league's best two-way player. In addition he was named to the All-Arena First team and All-Ironman team. Hopkins had 102 receptions this season for 1,285 yards and 29 touchdowns. On defense he recorded 38. 5 tackles and scored 5 touchdowns as a linebacker.

SCOUT CAMP players joining Hopkins on the All-Ironman team were San Jose WR/DB Barry Wagner (SC '91), Chicago WR/DB Dameon Porter (SC '98), Indiana OL/DL Kyle Moore-Brown (SC '96) and Los Angeles OL/DL Tony Plantin (SC '99).

Joining Hopkins on the All-Arena 1st team were Dameon Porter and Arizona OS Chris Horn (SC '99). Horn led the AFL in scoring with 218 points. He had 104 receptions for 1,324 yards and 29 touchdowns.

In addition, several SCOUT CAMP players were named to the All-Arena 2nd team. They include Arizona QB Sherdrick Bonner (SC '93), Arizona DS Cecil Doggette (SC '94), New Jersey DS Damon Mason (SC '97) and Buffalo K Steve McLaughlin (SC ' 98).
