ELITE Alumnus Horn Named to Pro Bowl
Horn currently leads the NFL with 1,248 receiving yards, leads the NFC with 85 catches and has tied the Saints team record he set last year with 10 touchdowns. With two games remaining, Horn is on pace to break Saints records of 94 receptions and 1,340 yards that he established in 2000. Horn has a club record 24 100-yard games in his career and he ranks second in Saints history in touchdowns (44), receptions (428) and receiving yards (6,138). Horn’s pro career started with humble beginnings. After two seasons at Itawamba Junior College Mississippi, Horn decided to purse a pro career rather than continue his career at a four-year university. He attended ELITE Combines in April 1994 and, though ineligible to sign with an NFL team, he was able to impress the Canadian Football League and was signed by the Memphis Mad Dogs. After gaining NFL draft eligibility in 1996, Horn was selected in the 5th round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. After two seasons spent primarily on special teams, Horn’s stock began to rise in 1998 and 1999 when he amassed 49 receptions for 784 yards and 7 touchdowns. He displayed big play potential in 1999 when he scored 6 touchdowns on only 35 receptions, catching the attention of Saints management. Horn began his Saints career in 2000 when he signed a four-year deal at $2 million per season. He has since rewarded them by re-writing the Saints record book and becoming one of the NFL’s elite receivers. Related Links: |
